We are looking for community members to join our Board.

Overview

Board members play a vital leadership role in guiding WCCC's mission to support and grow our local climbing community. Board members provide strategic oversight, ensure stability, and actively engage in advancing our goals through fundraising, advocacy, and community involvement.

Area of Focus

  • We are currently looking for members with experience in:

    • Marketing and communications - social media, e-newsletters, website building (Squarespace), etc.

      OR

    • Bolting

General Responsibilities

  • Mission & Strategy

    • Uphold and promote the organization’s mission, vision, and values.

    • Participate in developing and approving strategic plans and policies.

  • Governance

    • Attend and actively contribute to regular board meetings (quarterly).

    • Participate in working groups as needed.

  • Fundraising & Development

    • Support fundraising efforts through personal giving and/or securing donations.

    • Participate in events, donor cultivation, and community outreach.

  • Advocacy & Representation

    • Serve as an ambassador of the organization to the community, partners, and sponsors.

    • Promote access, stewardship, and equity in climbing and outdoor recreation.

  • Projects

    • All of our Board Members have a role with specific responsibilities tied to it. We are currently looking for marketing/communications support OR bolting support; this role would involve associated duties.

Expectations

  • Term Length: 2-3 years with the option to renew for an additional term.

  • Time Commitment: Approximately 4–8 hours per month.

  • Meeting Attendance: Attend at least 75% of board meetings annually.

  • Participation: Attend WCCC events and engage in projects.

Qualifications

  • Passion for climbing, outdoor access, environmental stewardship, and public lands.

  • Willingness to actively engage in board work, including fundraising and community building.

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas is a plus: nonprofit leadership, marketing, bolting, education, event planning, law, or finance,
